La Grande Tavola

Thanksgiving Before Thanksgiving

un Ringraziamento italiano

Tuesday, November 24 · 6:30 PM

The in-laws just flew in. The big day is still two days away. So come sit at our table first. Five courses served family style, a two-year wheel of Parmigiano cracked open beside you, prosciutto carved at your table, and one long, loud, happy night of giving thanks.

La Grande Tavola, an Italian Thanksgiving. A cracked wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano with ribbons of prosciutto inside a gold arch. November 24.

Pull Up a Chair

there is always room for one more

In Italy, the best meals are never served one plate at a time. They come out on big platters, get passed hand to hand, and somebody always reaches across the table for the last piece. That is how we want you to feel on November 24.

Thanksgiving week is beautiful chaos. Flights, grocery lists, the turkey that won't thaw. So before all of it, bring the people you love to our table. Your parents, your in-laws, the cousins who drove in, the friends who are family. We cook five courses and set them in the middle of the table, and you just get to be together.

Then the carving cart rolls up. A two-year wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano gets cracked open right beside you. Aged pecorino is sliced to order. A two-year prosciutto is carved paper-thin while you watch. Lou pours. The music plays. And everyone at the table says grazie.

A presto, famiglia

The Carving Cart

24

Parmigiano Reggiano

aged two years

A whole wheel, cracked open at the table with the short almond knife, the way they do it in Emilia. Nutty, sweet, full of those crunchy little crystals. We break off chunks and hand them to you warm from the light of the candles.

♥

Pecorino

aged sheep's milk

Sharp, salty and proud, the cheese of Rome. Sliced to order and passed around the table, with a drizzle of honey for anyone who wants it.

24

Prosciutto

aged two years

A whole leg on the carving stand, sliced paper-thin by hand right beside you. Sweet, silky and gone the second it hits the platter.

Before You Arrive

a few honest answers
What does family style mean here?

Each course comes to the table on big platters for everyone to share and pass around, like Sunday dinner at an Italian grandmother's house. Nobody leaves hungry.

What is included in the $75?

All five courses, the tableside Parmigiano, pecorino and prosciutto, and live music. Wine pairings are add-ons, and the bar is open with cocktails made for this menu.

What's the difference between the two wine tiers?

Both are curated by Lou Dedier, one glass with every course. Tier Two ($45) is a beautiful pairing for the night. Tier One ($75) is Lou's reserve, the bottles he saves for family.

Is gratuity included?

A 20% gratuity is added at checkout along with tax, and it goes to our team. Nothing to sort out at the table.

Can I bring my whole family?

Please do. Tables for up to 6 book online. For a bigger group, call us at (916) 673-9620 and we will put you together.

How does the guest list work?

When you book, your first name and last initial appear on this page. Nothing else. If you'd rather stay off it, add a note to your reservation and we will keep you off.

When will I see the menu?

Soon. It will be revealed on this page, and everyone with a seat hears first.

Can you work with allergies or dietary needs?

Yes. Add them to your Resy notes when you book, or give us a call, and we will plan around you.

Is the restaurant open for regular dinner that night?

No. On November 24 the whole house belongs to La Grande Tavola. Regular dinner picks back up the next day.

What if my plans change?

Cancel by Saturday, November 21 at 6:30 PM for a full refund. After that, tickets are non-refundable, but you can send a friend or family member in your place.

Still need Thanksgiving dinner sides?

Our Italian Thanksgiving to-go menu (focaccia stuffing, roasted squash, stuffed focaccia and a whole porchetta) is open for orders until November 22. See the to-go menu.
